Have you ever felt the thrill of walking in the woods and hearing the waves lapping? Well, if the answer is no, Sirolo and Portonovo suit your needs.
The two locations, situated in the lush Conero Natural Park, will surprise you with their distinctive position, and they will steal your heart with their crystal clear sea. Sirolo and Portonovo are proudly part of the Blue Flag programme. Since 1994, Sirolo was awarded with 28 consecutive Blue Flags, and it is the only European beach to hold this record.
At the Portonovo Beach, you will be spoilt for choice: from the sailboat-shaped rock of Della Vela Beach, to the wild nature of Mezzavalle Beach.
End the day by taking in the breathtaking view of the Monte Conero cliff from Sirolo’s main square while having a drink or eating an ice cream with your family.
This place goes by many names: the silent village, the little Tibet of Le Marche, the hamlet of the wind. But one thing is for sure: peace reigns here.
The village is located in the Nature Reserve of Mount San Vicino and Mount Canfaito. It was erected to protect the near Benedictine abbey of Santa Maria di Valfucina that was the heart of a thriving community, but eventually lost its power.
A visit to Elcito means strolling through the alleys of a ghost village, where you will find photos and descriptions that will tell you a lot about the history of this open air museum. It also means taking a look into the past and honouring the few people who decided to stay here to protect the memories of this place.
Loreto is one of the most important and visited Marian pilgrimage destinations of Catholicism.
According to tradition, Loreto is the Holy House of Mary that was translated by the Angels after the Muslims invaded Palestine. This was done to save the sacred place where Mary received the Annunciation.
It is believed that the fear that Mary felt when her house moved made her the colour we know today: the black Madonna of Loreto.
Obviously, these are all traditions and legends, but they have always attracted people more than reality.
Recanati is famous for being the town of Giacomo Leopardi. The renowned Italian poet and philosopher was born and raised here, and his home, Casa Leopardi, is open to anyone who wants to live and breathe the same atmosphere of the time when he wrote his masterpieces. For example, his well-known solitary hill, l’ermo colle, which he describes in his poem “The Infinite”, is situated right next to his home.
Recanati is also the city where the famous opera singer Beniamino Gigli was born. Take the chance to visit the civic museum, which was named after Gigli himself, where you will find the singer’s dressing room and photos of his greatest performances.
If you love culture, Recanati aligns with your needs!
The Frasassi Caves are some of the most famous caves around the world, and they stretch for about 18 km. Everyone can explore the caves, from adults to children, from adventurers to unexperienced visitors.
The Frasassi Caves were formed thanks to river Sentino’s flow, and they are full of stalactites and stalagmites that have been given curious names by speleologists because of their particular shape (no spoilers, you will find out by yourselves once you get in!). You will also find some lakes that create an evocative atmosphere.
Adventurers have also the possibility to discover some narrow passages that not many people have seen!
And if that is not enough, once you come out of the caves, you can climb the mountain and reach a temple hidden in the rocks, the Temple of Valadier.
You will spend the day by taking in the beautiful views of an enchanted world!
If what we have told you is still not enough to encourage you to come to our region, we can give you one more reason: here you will find a burning red canyon just like those in Hollywood movies!
You just need to head to Fiastra Lake and venture into the woods of the Sibillini National Park, where the trees will cool the path and help you reach your destination. This activity is suitable for everyone, you just need to be careful to the last gravelly part. Once you get there, you will stand before one of the most beautiful sights in the world, and we assure you it is worth it.
After the long walk, you can refresh yourself in the crystal clear water of Fiastra Lake.
Cingoli is a gem of our region. In its historic centre you will find many gothic buildings, and in its alleys you can still see artisans working in their workshops, as if you stepped back in time.
As you lose yourself in these alleys remember to look at the horizon because the strategic position of this village offers a breathtaking view on our region: from the Adriatic Sea to the Appennines. You can tell everyone that you have seen the whole region all at once!
If you really think this is not enough for you, we suggest you visit two places that are perfect to relax in summer: the Castreccioni Lake and the Cascades of Cingoli. Come here if you want to swim in fresh water and taste some regional delicacies.
If it happened to you to hear someone talking about Ancona, or if you searched for it, you have probably found these spots: the Mole Vanvitelliana, the Passetto, the Ancient Port and the Cathedral. Even though these are all beautiful places to visit, we want to tell you some little hidden gems and secrets that only locals know.
Did you know that Ancona is also called the town of the two suns? Ancona is, in fact, the only place in Italy where you can admire the sun both rising and setting on the sea, so that you can feel that sense of peace not once, but twice a day.
Did you know that if you are brave enough to go down the numerous steps of the Passetto you will discover the Grottaroli? In fact, once you reach the promenade, you will see many colored doors, behind which there are hidden caves. Here live the “Grottaroli”. They are locals who preserve the caves with the use of recycled materials. These have become their houses.
Although they might seem two typical Italian villages, Osimo and Camerano hide a history under their streets.
This history is made of wars and underground tunnels used to find shelter and run away. They were projected in detail, with chinks to watch without being seen, blind tunnels to disorient and signs not to lose the way, but just the locals knew these. A history made of religion and underground churches. A history waiting to be discovered.
Our Agriturismo is located in what is called Terra dei Castelli, the Land of Castles, and this tells a lot about the history of our region.
You can find various villages near us that still have the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. Offagna lets us live the age of knights and princesses with its castle (open all year long) and its medieval feasts.
Corinaldo becomes a gloomy city on Halloween, and Montecassiano is considered one of the most wonderful villages of Italy.
If you feel like being more romantic, do not miss Gradara. Once you pass through the town walls, you will live and breathe the love of Paolo and Francesca (the famous lovers of Dante’s Divine Comedy) that still lingers in the castle of Malatesta today.
Our Agriturismo is the cradle of peace. Here you will relax and enjoy the beauty of our region. Our promise is to make you feel like home.
